CLLAS Professional Development: NEH Grant Writing and more

The Center for Latino/a and Latin American Studies (CLLAS) invites junior faculty and graduate students to join us on Thursday, April 5th. Dr. Stephanie Wood (Center for Equity Promotion) will share tips and strategies for writing successful research grant proposals, applicable not only to NEH but also to other external funding for grants for humanities and social sciences.

CLLAS Director Gabriela Martinez will host a drop-in info session on CLLAS Faculty Collaborative Research Grants Thursday March 1, 2018, from Noon to 1:30 p.m. If you are considering applying, this is a great opportunity to come and ask questions.

Call for Proposals: Tinker Field Research Grants for Graduate Students

2018 Call for Tinker Proposals Final

CLLAS invites graduate students to submit proposals for field research in Latin America (Spanish or Portuguese speaking countries). We expect to award at least six grants for up to $4,000 each to advance research for either master’s or pre-dissertation doctoral candidates (see criteria below). 

Application Deadline: 12:00 pm (noon), Friday, March 2 

Applicants will be notified by April 6, 2018.

The Center for Latino/a & Latin American Studies (CLLAS) Announces 

Graduate Student 2018 Summer Research Grants

Applicants will be notified by April 6, 2018 

In order to encourage and support interdisciplinary graduate student research in the areas of Latino/a and Latin American Studies, CLLAS announces a program for summer research support. We expect to award up to three summer grants for $1,000 each to advance research for either master’s or doctoral candidates. The award will support research-related activities carried out from July 1 through September 30, 2018. We are especially interested in projects that link Latino/a Studies or Latin American Studies with other disciplines.

CLLAS Graduate Student Grant Writing Workshop

The Center for Latino/a and Latin American Studies will hold its annual Grant Writing Workshop targeted toward graduate students on January 23, 2018.

Our presenters will share tips and strategies for writing successful research grant proposals. This will also be an opportunity to learn more about CLLAS’s summer 2018 grants for graduate students. Speakers will also answer questions about applying for Tinker Field Research Grants. For more information, please contact cllas@uoregon.edu.

Speakers include:

  • Gabriela Martínez, Associate Professor, School of Journalism and Communication, Director of CLLAS
  • Erin Beck, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science.

The Global Studies Institute has added several new internship sectors and cities for the UO’s GlobalWorks International Internship program for Summer 2018.  Students can learn more at the info sessions scheduled on October 19, December 1, and January 19.
