A thought-provoking research presentation that sheds light on the experiences of 3rd-12th grade Latinx students within Bethel School District. This research, partially funded by CLLAS, combined quantitative data from 3,000+ student surveys and academic records, as well as qualitative data from focus groups and interviews with students, teachers, and parents.

Graduate Research Presentation: Sofia Vicente-Vidal

Sofia Vicente-Vidal, a PhD candidate in anthropology, presented her research on the development of labor tourism and soul searching in Tulum, Mexico. Sofia’s presentation shed light on the contradictions within the spiritual tourism industry in Tulum, highlighting the disparities between the luxury experiences marketed to affluent travelers and the harsh realities faced by local workers.
