Jane Rongerude and Gerardo Sandoval
Jane Rongerude is an assistant professor in the Department of Community and Regional Planning at Iowa State University and the faculty director for Iowa State’s Masters Degree in Community Development. Her research focuses on urban systems of poverty management, and in particular on the redevelopment of public housing. Within these systems, she investigates the institutional arrangements that help to disperse, shift, and reform poor households within the urban landscape. As a result of these areas of inquiry, she has developed a strong foundation in the areas of revitalization, housing policy, and community development.
Gerardo Sandoval is a participating ethnic studies faculty and assistant professor in the Department of Planning, Public Policy and Management and associate director of the Center for Latino/a and Latin American Studies at the University of Oregon. His research focuses on the roles of immigrants in community regeneration, the responses of governments to the presence of immigrants, and the ways that transnational relationships shape spaces that immigrants inhabit.
