In this fieldwork report, Sofia Vicente-Vidal summarizes the paradox inherent in soul-searching efforts that remain bound within the neoliberal imperatives of spiritual tourism in Tulum, Quintana Roo, Mexico, and a discussion of how this project aims to explore local experiences and negotiated realities that may offer alternative processes of imagining global futures and modernities beyond a universalized Western hegemonic version of tourism and spirituality.
