The Center for Latino/a and Latin American Studies (CLLAS) at the University of Oregon invites applications and faculty nominations for the 2026 Outstanding Undergraduate Project Award. This annual award recognizes exceptional undergraduate work that engages with Latinx and/or Latin American topics across all disciplines.

CLLAS will award four prizes of $400 each to students whose projects demonstrate excellence in research, creativity, impact, and more!  Selected awardees will be invited to present their work at the CLLAS Awards Ceremony on May 22, 2026, and their projects will be featured on the CLLAS website and social media platforms.

Eligible submissions are not limited to: theses, research papers, capstone projects, STEM projects, and creative works such as film, art, or performance, and more! As long as the work relates to Latinx and/or Latin American topics – it qualifies! Projects must have been completed as part of University of Oregon coursework during Spring 2025, Fall 2025, or Winter 2026. The competition is open to all UO undergraduate students, regardless of citizenship or visa status.

Students may apply directly by submitting their project along with a brief statement and requesting a faculty letter of recommendation. Faculty are also encouraged to nominate outstanding students by submitting a short statement describing the significance and impact of the student’s work.

The application and nomination deadline is April 6, 2026.

Join us in recognizing and celebrating the impactful work UO undergraduate students are doing to advance knowledge and understanding of Latinx and Latin American communities.
