Overview
The Center for Latino/a and Latin American Studies at University of Oregon is excited to announce its 2026 Award for Outstanding Undergraduate Project in Latinx and/or Latin American-related issues in any field of study. We expect to award four prizes of $400 each to undergraduate students who have demonstrated excellence through an undergraduate thesis, research paper, capstone project, STEM project, or creative work. We encourage faculty to nominate students, however students may also submit applications on their own.
Award Details
- Four $400 awards are available
- Awardees will be invited to deliver a 5-minute presentation about their project at the 2026 CLLAS Awards Ceremony on May 30th
- Awardees’ projects will be shared via the CLLAS website and social media platforms. Awardees may be contacted to film a short video about their project.
Eligibility
- Projects for consideration must be connected to UO coursework in any field of study produced during Spring 2025, Fall 2025, or Winter 2026 terms
- The project must focus on a subject related or relevant to Latinx or Latin American matters
- Coursework for this program may include a thesis, research paper, capstone project, STEM project, or creative work such as a film, painting, fictional work, sculpture, performance, etc.
- Former recipients are not eligible
- The award is available to all students regardless of citizenship or visa status
- Recipients must agree to share their project with the UO and non-UO community through the CLLAS website or social media
- Recipients must agree to do a brief presentation of their project at the award ceremony sponsored by CLLAS on May 22nd, 2026 at 3:30pm

Students and faculty are invited to submit student projects.
CLLAS Mission
The Center for Latino/a and Latin American Studies (CLLAS) at the University of Oregon advances interdisciplinary research, teaching, and community engagement focused on Latinx and Latin American experiences across Oregon, the United States, Latin America, and the broader hemisphere. Serving as a hub for collaborative scholarship and creative work, CLLAS uses a hemispheric framework that places Oregon in meaningful conversation with the Americas. Through integrated research, experiential learning, and public programming, the Center cultivates intellectual community, supports student and faculty innovation, and produces knowledge that responds to urgent social, cultural, and political questions.
