Chris Chávez
Director: Chris Chávez is an associate professor of Media Studies, Advertising, and Latinx Studies, tenured in the School of Journalism and Communication. He has been involved with CLLAS since he joined the UO in 2013, serving a three-year term as member of the executive board and actively participating in CLLAS research and programming activities.
He is the author of Reinventing the Latino Television Viewer: Language Ideology and Practice and co-editor of Identity: Beyond Tradition and McWorld Neoliberalism. His research has appeared in peer-reviewed journals including Consumption, Markets and Culture, International Journal of Communication, and Critical Studies in Media Communication.
